Carolina Panthers extend Chuba Hubbard

This Thursday morning on the news that Chuba Hubbard signed an extension with the Carolina Panthers. By the way, the Panthers Playbook was presented by our friends over at Carolina 4D dealers for the Ford F-150 on your team, SE Senor Carolina Ford dealer today. Chuba Hubbard's contract extension for four years is $33.2 million.

15 million of that guaranteed, and that's the key number right there is the 15 million guaranteed. Now the average annual value of the deal is about $8.3 million, but again, 15 million guaranteed says that two years of this contract are guaranteed,

So it looks like the Carolina Panthers, my guess, are going to have an out after the next couple of seasons, which I like about this deal. First of all, Chuba Hubbard has been productive; he's been one of the best productive or most productive running backs in the NFL.

Season in terms of yards per carry rushing success rate he has had a really good productive year and obviously he fits well into Dave Canal's offense now do you want him to get the ball more sure but that's a different conversation going forward now a lot of people probably thinking well why are you extending chuba Hubbard when you just drafted Jonathan Brooks couple things one you still don't know what you have in Jonathan Brooks he has not stepped on the field yet he might play this Sunday against the New York Giants but second.

Of all we are seeing teams even with first-round running backs go with two running back systems. For example, you look at Jar Gibbs, a first-round running back drafted last year by the Detroit Lions; they pair him with David Montgomery; it's a great one-w punch; you look at Nai Harris in Pittsburgh, a former first-round uh pick as well; he's in his fourth year; but the last couple years Jaylen Warren has been the complimentary back and used a lot in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, whether it's with Arthur Smith last year or In previous seasons with Mat Kadaa as the offensive coordinator, even though Bejan Robinson was a top-10 pick, they still used him as a one-w combination with Tyler Aler. We have seen NFL teams even with highly drafted running backs going to two running back systems.

Those three guys I mentioned, Naji Harris, Jr. Gibbs, and Bejan Robinson, are still on their rookie contracts and are still on their rookie deals, and they are used in two running back systems if Dave Canales, who wants to be about that running the that run game life well.

Guess what if you have two guys that can do it then you have no choice but to be about that life if you're going to be about the Run game Dave Canales because guess what as the game progresses Jonathan Brooks, as we know, has some really good speed, at least what he showed at Texas.

We'll see how his body is now after recovering from the ACL injury, but the speed and the game are breaking the big playability, imagine if you have a lead in the fourth quarter and you have a chuba Hubbard who is now.

Grinding down the team late in the fourth quarter because he has fresh legs is a recipe for success in the future going forward with this team. I love the addition or I love the extension of Chuba Hubbard.

I also love the message that it sends to this team, and this is probably the most important thing about your players that fit your locker room that fits your playing style that has the mentality that you want you to keep them, and that's probably the most important thing is that you are rewarding a player for being exactly.

What you want in terms of what you've said and what you've said out, Dan Morgan. Dave Canalis is the dog mentality productive in the locker room; that's exactly what Chuba Hubbard is, and you have rewarded him for that. You are keeping your good players. This is something the Panthers haven't been doing much of over the last few years. They're keeping one of their productive players, keeping their good talent inside the building. All right, they trimmed the fat with Dance Johnson; they decided to let Jonathan.

Mingo went because, guess what, he's not productive for a multitude of reasons, but they said, Hey, Chuba Hubbard, that's the kind of guy that we want on our team; that's the guy that we need to have on our team, and that's the person that we can help build around or one of the building blocks on the team for the foreseeable future. That, to me, is the biggest reason why you keep Chuba Hubbard around his production, but also he fits exactly what you have described as a franchise.
